MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641051075 A) filed by Hindusthan College Of Engineering And Technology on April 22, 2026, for Performance Of Evacuated Tube Solar Air Collector Assisted Mixed Mode Solar Dryer.
Inventors include D. Prabhu; Dr. K. Siva; Adhithyan J; Kalaiselvan K; Kishore D; and Muhammed Noufal S.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: The fast depletion of conventional energy resources and its negative impacts on environment have accelerated the research and developments on making use of renewable energy sources in post harvesting applications. The thermal drying of agricultural produl:ls is an energy intensive post harvesting technology. The solar energy is identified as an energy efficient and environment-friendly option for the processing of agricukural materials when compared to other renewable energy options. Hence, an attempt has been made in this project work to explore the possibility of using mixed mode forced convection solar dryer integrated with evacuated tube solar air collector. A mixed mode solar dryer experimental test facility with necessary instrumentation was developed to investigate the feasibility of chilli drying. In this project work, the technical feas.ibility was, evaluated in terms of energy analysis. The economical feasibility was evaluated in terms. of payback period. The environmental impact was assessed in terms. of carbon emissions. The results showed that the proposed dryer has reduced the moisture content of chilli in 24 hours.
