Abstract: ABSTRACT PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT SMALL SCALE FADING MODELS The invention relates to wireless communication, and more particularly to statistical performance analysis of small-scale wireless fading models. Disclosed is a system and method that treats fading amplitude as a random variable with additive white Gaussian noise independent thereof, selects a Rayleigh fading model, Nakagami-m fading model, or Weibull fading model, and applies a common analytical treatment to transform fading amplitude statistics into instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio statistics through a square-law relationship based on symbol energy Es. From the resulting probability density function of instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio, a moment generating function is obtained, and average output signal-to-noise ratio is determined from the first derivative of the moment generating function at s = 0. The approach further derives moments and computes amount of fading according to AoF = var(.)/(E[.])^2, enabling inter-model comparison, including Rayleigh behavior, parameterized Nakagami-m and Weibull conditions, and correspondence between model parameters and fading severity.
