Abstract: ABSTRACT PERCOLATION-THRESHOLD CARBON-BASED SENSOR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR NONLINEAR ELECTRICAL DETECTION OF DYE CONTAMINANTS IN WATER The present invention relates to a percolation-threshold carbon-based sensor system (100) for nonlinear electrical detection of dye contaminants in water, comprising a conductive substrate (102), a carbon-based sensing network (104) disposed on the substrate (102) and operating at or near a percolation threshold to form a discontinuous conductive pathway, and an electrical measurement unit (106) configured to detect variation in an electrical property of the sensing network (104). Adsorption of dye molecules onto the sensing network (104) induces disruption of conductive junctions, resulting in a non-linear change in resistance, conductivity, or impedance indicative of dye presence. The method (200) comprises providing (202) the sensing network (104), exposing (204) it to a water sample, monitoring (206) electrical variation using the unit (106), and detecting (208) dye contaminants based on percolation-threshold-driven non-linear electrical response.
