The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a road-condition adaptive hardware accelerator logic for selective autonomous vehicle perception. The invention comprises a software frontend and a Verilog RTL hardware backend for selectively processing perception tasks according to the detected road environment. An input road image is preprocessed and provided to a deep neural network (DNN), which classifies the road environment and generates a digital task-selection signal. The signal is provided to a hardware task controller for selectively activating the required perception tasks comprising object detection, semantic segmentation, lane detection, drivable-area segmentation, and depth estimation. The selected tasks utilize a shared CNN processing core comprising an input/feature buffer, convolution-window generator, processing elements, multiply-accumulate units, accumulator, activation unit, and output register. The proposed architecture enables selective activation of perception processing and reuse of common computational resources. The Verilog RTL architecture can be simulated and synthesized using a Vivado design environment and evaluated in terms of resource utilization, timing, estimated power consumption, and processing latency.
