MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126861 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on October 24, 2026, for Perception-Based System For Autonomous Cleaning Of A Toilet Commode.

Inventors include Megalingam, Rajesh Kannan; and Manoharan, Sakthiprasad Kuttankulangara.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system (100) and method (300) for perception-based autonomous cleaning of toilet surfaces. The system includes a mobile base (102), a robotic arm (104), and a sensing assembly (106-4) generating data streams (106-4A-2) representing commode geometry and surface contamination. A parallel processing unit (108) transforms data into a point cloud representation (108-2). A processor (112) computes parameter values (112-2) for a general ellipsoid representation (110-2) to produce a parameterized ellipsoid representation (112-4) conforming to the geometry. A stain classifier (108-4) identifies stained patches (112-4A-2) for selecting adaptive force setpoints. A base optimization unit (112-6) determines optimal base positions (112-6A) maximizing reachable coverage. A microcontroller (114) actuates DC motors (102-2) for transport. Unlike conventional cleaning robots requiring pre-stored CAD models, this architecture facilitates real- time CAD-free 3D reconstruction and adaptive force-feedback cleaning that achieves over 96% spatial coverage while preventing ceramic damage and reducing cleaning time by 30.5%.
