MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647112395 A) filed by Nokia Technologies Oy on September 18, 2026, for Pdu Set Qos Based Multi Access Handling For Data Traffic Such As Xr Traffic.

Inventors include George, Jisha; Chandramouli, Devaki; Kahn, Colin; Panigrahi, Bighnaraj; and Gkellas, Georgios.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: Examples are presented for PDU Set QoS based MA handling for data traffic. Rules are enabled to use PSLR, PSD thresholds to split and steer PDUs for PDU Sets for MA data traffic across multiple accesses for n3GPP and 3GPP accesses. These rules allow a UE and UPF to (re)distribute UL and DL flows (e.g., UL and DL data traffic) over these accesses. Alternatively, rules are used to indicate that, if PDU set handling is not supported by both accesses, then normal PDU handling and rules are to be used. If PDU set handling is supported by both accesses, then PDU Set handling and rules are to be used. The UE and UPF use such handling and rules to (re)distribute UL and DL flows over these accesses.
