MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431096240 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Mizoram on December 05, 2024, for Patchouli Oil Based Nano-Emulsion And A Method Of Formulation Therof.
Inventors include Mr. Irom Ragish Singh; and Dr. Ajmal Koya Pulikkal.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT “PATCHOULI OIL BASED NANO-EMULSION AND A METHOD OF FORMULATION THEROF” The present invention relates to a nano emulsion- based composition using patchouli essential oil (PEO) for treating lung cancer. The nano emulsion-based composition comprising patchouli essential oil (PEO); a non- ionic surfactant as emulsifier; and water as the continuous medium. The major constituent of the nano emulsion-based composition is patchouli alcohol (patchoulol) with a peak area of 34.036%. The mean droplet size (Zavg) of nano emulsion-based composition using patchouli essential oil (PEO) is 13.94 nm and the polydispersity index (PDI) of nano emulsion-based composition using patchouli essential oil (PEO) is 0.03. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of the nano emulsion-based composition using patchouli essential oil (PEO) is 0.71 µL/mL, which is the cytotoxicity against A549 human lung cancer cells.
