Abstract: PASSIVE MECHANICAL STRUCTURAL MONITORING SYSTEM WITH MULTI-STAGE OVERLOAD INDICATION A passive mechanical structural monitoring system (100) is disclosed for monitoring displacement, deformation, or load-induced movement of a structure. The system (100) comprises a structural attachment assembly (110) configured to be mounted to a monitored structure, a load-responsive tension member (120) configured to transmit structural displacement, and a remotely positioned mechanical trigger unit (130) coupled to the tension member (120). The mechanical trigger unit (130) comprises a housing (132), a trigger element (134) movable in response to transmitted displacement, a support assembly (140) having hinged plate members coupled through hinge arrangements (142), one or more energy-storing elements (144), and a plurality of indicator members (146a-146c) disposed within an indicator chamber (148). The trigger element (134) may comprise calibrated notch regions (136a-136c) or a tapered profile configured to establish multiple activation thresholds. The system further comprises an indicator biasing element (150) and a latching arrangement (152) configured to retain activated indicator members following actuation.
