Abstract: The invention relates to a passive-hybrid structural ventilation system and method. The system comprises a stepped flooring portion (102) defining descending seating tiers separated by vertical riser surfaces and horizontal tread surfaces. A localized subterranean fluid distribution network embedded beneath the flooring portion includes independent extraction ducts (104A) communicating with the lecture halls via flush-mounted discrete air intake grilles on the vertical riser surfaces. A vertically oriented solar chimney (106) integrated into an exterior structural wall encloses an internal thermal shaft defined by a solar radiation absorbing outer glazed front portion and an insulated rear structural boundary layer. A lower fluid collection plenum (108) terminates and fluidly seals the fluid distribution network (104) to the base of the internal thermal shaft. Solar radiation exposure elevates the internal thermal shaft temperature, generating a buoyancy-driven upward thermal plume that induces a negative pressure differential within the plenum to passively extract air from occupant breathing zones without mechanical propulsion.
