The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a passive ergonomic back support apparatus (1) for providing controlled resistance during forward trunk flexion and passive assistance during trunk extension. The apparatus (1) comprises a spine-aligned central support (7), a back cushion pad (6), body-fixing strips (5), and an elastic material (4) mechanically associated with the wearable structure through strap materials (2, 3, 7C). The central support (7) includes a threaded pipe (7A) cooperating with a pipe member (7B) for vertical adjustment relative to the posterior spinal region of a user. During forward trunk flexion, relative movement within the wearable structure progressively elongates the elastic material (4) to store elastic mechanical energy. During subsequent trunk extension, contraction of the elastic material (4) releases the stored energy to provide passive assistance towards an upright position. The apparatus is applicable to activities involving repeated forward bending, lifting and material handling.
