MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641103858 A) filed by Kalasalingam Academy Of Research And Education on August 28, 2026, for Paralyzed Patient Bed Lying Posture Detection And Iot Alert System To Prevent Bed Sore.

Inventors include Dr. S. Shasi; and Dr. P. Jayakumar.

Abstract: The titled invention discloses paralyzed patient bed lying posture detection and IOT alert system, to prevent bedsore of the paralyzed patients who lying over the bed(2) 10 at particular position for long time by using the distance proximity sensor (3)(4) (left) (right) placed symmetrically over the bed (2)brim(5) on each side. The sensors (3) (4) measures the distance of the patients posture and sends that signal to the timer control (9). It analyze the data and if all measured readings remains unchanged for a predetermined threshold period, then it confirm that patient is not moved. So system 15 triggers the instant alert via IOT (8)messaging to caregiver or nurse to check and reposition the paralyzed patient, this timely notification avoid the risk of bedsore to the patient and reduce need of physical supervision, hence it improves patient safety and caregiver efficiency.
