Abstract: ABSTRACT PAGING EARLY INDICATION A first apparatus in a mobile communications system comprising: at least one processor; and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the first apparatus at least to: receive, from a second apparatus, a Paging Early Indication (PEI) configuration, wherein the PEI configuration comprises a number (po-NumPerPEI) of paging occasions (PO) to be associated with one PEI; receive, from the second apparatus, a downlink control information (DCI) comprising a PEI message, wherein the PEI message comprises a first indication of whether a paging occasion is to be monitored by the first apparatus; perform a first determination of whether a first at least one bit should be determined based on a first starting bit position or a shifted starting bit position based, at least in part, on a number of used bits in the DCI; if the first determination is that the first at least one bit should be determined based on the shifted starting bit position, then determine the first at least one bit based on the shifted starting position, wherein the first at least one bit comprises the first indication; and determine whether to monitor a paging occasion based, at least in part, on the first indication.
