Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an oval port capacitance-based liquid level sensing system (100) and method (200). The system (100) includes a storage vessel (102), an electrode assembly (104), Cassini Oval-Port opening (106), an inlet (108) and an outlet (110). The electrode assembly (104) includes an inner electrode (104-1) and an outer electrode (104-2) arranged concentrically to define a sensing region. The inner electrode (104-1) and the outer electrode (104-2) includes distributed Cassini Oval-Port openings (106) extending along a longitudinal direction of the electrode (104), each Cassini Oval-Port opening (106) being defined by a Cassini oval geometry configured to increase an effective sensing surface area while simultaneously providing liquid flow passages through the electrode (104). The capacitance measurement circuit is coupled to the electrode assembly (104) for detecting variations in capacitance resulting from changes in a dielectric medium between the electrodes (104) caused by variations in liquid level.
