MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641105767 A) filed by Srm University- Ap on September 02, 2026, for Otfs-Based Active Star-Ris-Aided Integrated Sensing And Communication Systems.

Inventors include Nalla Sai Srinivas; Mukkara Prasanna Kumar; Ammar Summaq; Shaik Mahammad Ansar; and Dr. Sunil Chinnadurai.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: An OTFS-based active STAR-RIS aided sensing and communication systems (100) which comprises of a base station (101) with antennas, an OTFS transmitter module (103) generating signals via a delay-Doppler grid, and an ASTARS panel (104) with active elements. The panel provides 360-degree coverage, simultaneously transmitting signals to communication users on a first side and reflecting signals to sensing targets (105) on an opposite second side. A beamforming optimization module (106) optimizes a transmit beamforming matrix using a quadratic semidefinite program (QSDP), while an ASTARS panel (104) refines phase and amplitude coefficients via a majorization-minimization (MM) protocol. The system (100) eliminates inter-carrier interference by confining target Doppler shifts to a single Doppler bin, enabling the base station (101) to accurately estimate range and velocity from received radar echoes.
