Abstract: A redesigned orthopaedic device intended to treat skeletal Class III malocclusion is the subject of the current invention. Traditional orthopaedic devices like facemasks and chin cups treat mandibular prognathism or maxillary insufficiency on their own. Nonetheless, a large number of Class III individuals have coupled skeletal abnormalities that necessitate concurrent orthopaedic repair. The invention presents a modified chin-cup device with an anteriorly positioned protraction hook built into the device's structure. The hook makes it possible to attach intermaxillary elastics, which apply posterior-superior restraining stresses to the mandible and regulate forward and downward protraction forces to the maxilla. In relation to the occlusal plane, orthopedic forces of around 400–500 grams per side are applied at a 25°–35° angle. In comparison to conventional two-appliance systems, preliminary biomechanical analysis and pilot growth-phase testing show efficient dual jaw control with better patient comfort and less mass.
