Abstract: ABSTRACT ORTHOGONAL TUNABLE SECTIONAL MICROSTRIP ANTENNA WITH MOVABLE-GROUND TUNING FOR NV DIAMOND MAGNETOMETRY The present invention discloses a planar microwave antenna system (100) formed on a printed circuit board (PCB) laminate, comprising an orthogonal tunable sectional transmission line pair (101, 102) including upper and lower sectional traces, each having two 50 Ohm impedance sections (103a, 103b; 104a, 104b) and a tunable constricted transmission line section (105, 106) positioned therebetween. The constricted sections (105, 106) are orthogonally stacked and separated by an optimized distance, with a movable ground (107) and a characteristic impedance tuning screw (108) configured to synchronously adjust impedances close to 50 Ohms. Input microwave power is supplied through connectors (109) while termination resistors (110) complete the circuit. The system (100) generates linearly or circularly polarized microwave magnetic fields (B1) on an NV center diamond plate mounted above the crossing region, achieving enhanced efficiency, polarization control, and stable field generation across operational bandwidths.
