Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an Orthodontic Instrument with Built-in Torque Indicator, a precision orthodontic hand instrument designed to provide real-time visual indication of the magnitude of torque applied during orthodontic wire manipulation and appliance activation. Conventional orthodontic torqueing pliers rely entirely on clinician experience, resulting in variability in torque application, inconsistent third-order bends, and inaccurate force delivery. Excessive or insufficient torque may adversely affect tooth movement, prolong treatment duration, and increase the risk of undesirable biomechanical effects. The proposed invention integrates a miniature mechanical torque-indicating mechanism within an orthodontic instrument such as a torqueing plier or activation plier. The indicator provides real-time measurement of the applied torque through a calibrated analog dial, color-coded indicator, or digital display while maintaining the normal functionality of the instrument. The invention enables reproducible torque application, improves clinical accuracy, minimizes operator variability, and facilitates documentation of applied torque values. Novelty resides in the structural integration of a calibrated torque-indicating mechanism into an orthodontic hand instrument for direct chairside monitoring of applied orthodontic torque.
