Abstract: The present invention relates to an oral photoprotective effervescent tablet comprising astaxanthin, caffeine, an effervescent acid–base system, and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients. The tablet generates carbon dioxide upon contact with water to provide an orally administrable solution or suspension, thereby facilitating rapid dispersion of the active ingredients and improving palatability and patient compliance. Astaxanthin functions as an antioxidant and photoprotective agent, while caffeine acts as a co-active ingredient in the composition. The composition is intended to provide systemic antioxidant and photoprotective effects against ultraviolet radiation-induced oxidative stress and associated skin damage. In certain embodiments, the composition may reduce reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress and may contribute to protection of cellular components and skin structural proteins associated with photoaging. The invention further provides a process for preparing the effervescent tablet and methods for evaluating its physicochemical properties, dissolution or dispersion characteristics, antioxidant activity, and stability. The effervescent tablet provides rapid effervescence, satisfactory pharmaceutical characteristics, and stability suitable for oral administration for supporting skin health and reducing the effects associated with ultraviolet radiation.
