Abstract: The titled invention discloses an oral nanoparticle drug delivery system incorporating Monascus pigment extract and Lovastatin for improved antihyperlipidemic activity. The pigment extract obtained from Monascus purpureus through fermentation contains bioactive compounds that exhibit lipid-lowering properties. However, conventional formulations suffer from poor bioavailability, rapid degradation, and inconsistent therapeutic response. The proposed invention overcomes these limitations by encapsulating Monascus pigment extract and Lovastatin within polymeric or lipid- based nanoparticles to enhance stability, solubility, and controlled release in the gastrointestinal tract. The nanoparticle system improves intestinal absorption and prolongs drug release, thereby increasing therapeutic efficiency and reducing dosage frequency. The formulation is further processed into an oral capsule dosage form for convenient administration. This invention provides a novel synergistic drug delivery approach that significantly enhances antihyperlipidemic activity and offers potential applications in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases associated with elevated cholesterol levels.
