Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for optimizing retrieval of an external IP address of a UE in a communication system (1000) by a session managing node (118). The method includes receiving, from a service consumer node (114), a first service request for retrieval of the external IP address of a PDU session of the UE. The first service request includes an identifier of the UE and first plurality of attributes. The first plurality of attributes includes a SUPI, a PDU session identifier, an IP address of a remote end, and at least one of an indicator and an event ID requesting for the external IP address of the UE. Further, the method includes determining a NAT information exposing node (120) that provides the NAT information of the PDU session of the UE. Further, the method includes sending a first service response to the service consumer node (114).
