Abstract: Techniques for optimizing resource positioning are described. In one aspect, at least one event characterized by an occurrence of an unexpected incident associated with 5 a geographical area is identified. The at least one event being at least one of a network outage, and a new product launch. Further, historical data indicative of a demand pattern for resources of at least the said geographical area is obtained. Data associated with a topography of the geographical area is then acquired. Further, a demand for resources for the said geographical area is predicted based at least on 10 the at least one event, historical data, and the acquired data associated with the topography. Based on the predicted demand, resources to be allocated for the said geographical area are identified to optimize resource positioning.
