MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411089548 A) filed by Schneider Electric India Private Limited on November 19, 2024, for Optimized Thermal Release Layout For Miniature Circuit Breakers (mcbs).
Inventor includes Patil, Rohit Ashok.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a miniature circuit breaker (MCB) featuring an optimized thermal release layout designed to reduce overall cost and improve efficiency. The MCB includes a housing (100) that encloses and protects internal components, such as a bimetallic strip (2) with a fixed end (22) and a free end (23). The bimetallic strip (2) bends in response to heat generated by current flow, triggering a tripping mechanism (8) via a trip pin (9). A connecting strip (4) attached to the fixed end (22) of the bimetallic strip (2) extends to form an arc runner, eliminating the need for additional components. The MCB also features a calibration screw (6) accessible through a window (102) in the housing (100), allowing for hot calibration. The pivot point (101) serves as a fulcrum for the connecting strip (4) during calibration, ensuring controlled and precise movement. The moving contact (1) is connected to the bimetallic strip (2) via a flexible braid (7), maintaining electrical continuity while allowing necessary movement. The terminal (5) provides an external connection point for cables, completing the electrical circuit within the MCB. This design enhances the overall performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of the MCB.
