Abstract: ABSTRACT [0066] Tungsten Inert Gas(TIG) Welding is a very popular fusion technique that is valued for its clean and precise joints mostly on non-ferrous metal like aluminium. AA 6082 T6 Aluminium alloy which has been TIG welded using L9 orthogonal array(Taguchi method) has been examined in this study using various tests. Because of its high corrosion resistance this aluminium alloy is most commonly used for marine environments, heavy duty work and structural applications. The primary goal of this research is on the impact of different welding parameters on the alloy's behavior. To get an understanding of the performance of the welds a series of tests have been conducted on the test material. The first test conducted was the Liquid Penetration Test which showed that 4 out of the 9 materials showed no defects. Secondly tensile test was performed in which samples 5-1 and 5-2 exhibited the highest average tensile strength 260 MPa, while Micro Vickers hardness test was conducted which showed sample 5 had the highest hardness 95.6 HV with no defects. Salt Spray test and Charpy Impact Test was performed which sample 5 showed 0.18 mm/yr corrosion rate lowest in all samples and exhibited 50.91KJ/m^2 highest impact strength. Furthermore the material was analyzed under a Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) to revealed ductile fracture as the primary failure mode for sample 5.
