Abstract: OPTIMAL TRACKING OF DC-LINK VOLTAGE OF DFIG SYSTEM USING LQR WITH INTEGRAL CONTROLLER The present invention relates to a system and method for optimal tracking and regulation of the DC-link voltage in a Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)-based wind energy conversion system using a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) with integral control action. The invention employs an augmented state-space model incorporating an integral state to eliminate steady state tracking error while maintaining the optimality of the LQR controller. An optimal feedback gain is obtained by solving an Algebraic Riccati Equation, and the resulting control law generates coordinated control signals for the grid-side and rotor-side converters to maintain the DC-link voltage at a desired reference under varying wind speeds, grid disturbances, and load variations. The proposed controller minimizes voltage fluctuations, improves transient response, enhances damping characteristics, suppresses oscillations, and reduces converter stress and control effort. Compared with conventional proportional-integral and standalone LQR controllers, the invention provides superior reference tracking, robust disturbance rejection, improved system stability, and reliable converter operation, making it suitable for modern grid-connected DFIG-based wind energy conversion systems.
