Abstract: ABSTRACT: Title: Optically-Biased Metamaterial-Isolated MIMO Antenna Array Using Light-Dependent Resistive Switching (Bias- Circuit-Free Reconfiguration) The present invention discloses an optically reconfigurable multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna array comprising a plurality of radiating antenna elements, at least one metamaterial isolation structure, and one or more light- dependent resistive switching elements. The radiating antenna elements are arranged on or within a dielectric substrate and configured for MIMO wireless communication. The metamaterial isolation structure is positioned between selected adjacent antenna elements to suppress electromagnetic coupling, surface-wave interaction, near-field coupling, and/or undesired current propagation. Each light- dependent resistive switching element is associated with a selected conductive path, gap, slot, branch, parasitic element, or resonant portion of an antenna element and is configured to change electrical resistance in response to optical illumination. Selective illumination from one or more optical sources changes the resistance of the corresponding switching elements and thereby modifies RF current paths, effective electrical length, resonance, impedance, radiation characteristics, polarization, or other antenna parameters. An optical controller may independently control multiple switching elements to provide multiple antenna configurations. The optical switching arrangement eliminates or reduces the requirement for conventional electrical bias circuitry directly associated with the RF switching elements, thereby reducing parasitic loading, conductive routing, and electromagnetic interference while enabling compact and dynamically configurable MIMO operation.
