MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611096037 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jammu on August 08, 2026, for One Time Secure Proxy Biometric Generation And Authentication Over Decentralized Networks.

Inventors include Kaur, Harkeerat; and Chhabra, Yogita.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques for authentication of a user. A current biometric sample is obtained in response to an authentication request from an access control device (104), and a current biometric feature representation is generated. Upon verifying that the current biometric feature representation corresponds to a reference biometric feature representation securely stored on a user device (102), a session key associated with an authentication session is received from an authentication server (106). A biometric transformation using the session key generates a reference proxy biometric template and a query proxy biometric template. The query proxy biometric template is transmitted to the authentication server (106) via the access control device (104), while the reference proxy biometric template is transmitted directly to the authentication server (106). An authorization response indicating an access determination for a protected resource is received based on an authentication result generated from comparison of the proxy biometric templates.
