The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: An omnidirectional robot is an advanced mobile system engineered to achieve full freedom of movement, allowing translation in any direction and rotation around its axis without the need for reorientation. This capability is made possible through specialized mobility mechanisms such as mecanum wheels, omni wheels, or spherical actuation units, each enabling independent vector control of wheel forces. By integrating real-time kinematics, precise motor control, and sensor-based feedback, the robot can execute complex motion patterns including lateral shifts, diagonal movement, on-spot rotation, and simultaneous rotation—translation. This high maneuverability makes omnidirectional robots exceptionally suitable for tasks requiring precision, agility, and adaptability in constrained or dynamic environments. The system architecture typically includes a combination of microcontrollers, motor drivers, encoders, IMU sensors, and sometimes LiDAR or vision modules for advanced navigation and obstacle detection. Through efficient motion algorithms and path-planning techniques, these robots achieve smooth navigation in industrial warehouses, hospitals, research laboratories, and service environments. They play a crucial role in applications such as automated material handling, robotic assistants, surveillance platforms, and educational robotics. Despite challenges involving traction control, mechanical cost, and system complexity, omnidirectional robots significantly enhance operational flexibility and efficiency. Their unique movement capabilities position them as an essential solution for next-generation robotics and autonomous systems, enabling intelligent, responsive, and highly maneuverable robotic operations.
