MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641079948 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology on June 29, 2026, for Offline Edge-Ai System For Plant Disease Detection With Regional Voice Advisory.
Inventors include Vasanthi R; Tharun Krishna S; and Tumili M.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an offline Edge-Artificial Intelligence (Edge-AI) system for real-time plant disease detection and regional voice advisory. The system comprises a mobile computing device having an image acquisition module, an image preprocessing module, an on-device disease inference engine including a compressed convolutional neural network model, a localized disease-remedy mapping engine, a local disease-and-remedy database, and an offline regional-language text-to-speech engine. A captured image of a plant part is processed and classified locally on the mobile device without transmitting the image to a remote server. The identified disease is mapped to a corresponding crop-specific remedial recommendation stored in the local database. The recommendation is converted into synthesized speech in a regional language and provided to the user through an audio output module. The invention enables autonomous disease diagnosis and spoken agricultural guidance in low-connectivity environments while reducing dependence on cloud infrastructure and improving accessibility for farmers with limited literacy.
