MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088546 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University on July 20, 2026, for Odour-Resistant Chef Garment Of Hygroscopic And Low-Adhesion Fibre Blend.
Inventors include Jyoti Sehrawat; and Indrajeet Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is a chef garment, and a method of making it, whose fabric reduces retention of grease and perspiration odour in professional kitchens. The fabric comprises a hygroscopic protein fibre, such as merino wool, that absorbs perspiration and dries, and a smooth low adhesion fibre, such as silk, to which grease and microbial matter adhere less and from which grease is more readily released on washing, in a breathable architecture that promotes evaporation. The two fibres co-operate: drying by the protein fibre suppresses perspiration and bacterial odour while reduced grease adhesion and easier release by the low adhesion fibre suppress grease odour, so the fabric retains less odour than a fabric of either fibre alone. Because the effect resides in the fibre composition and architecture rather than a surface finish, it persists through repeated laundering. The garment may have a zoned construction and an oil resistant front.
