MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109586 A) filed by G. L. Bajaj Institute Of Technology And Management on September 12, 2026, for Obstacle-Priority Railway Level-Crossing Gate System With Solar Battery Backup.
Inventors include Simran; Niket Prakash; Aditya Nigam; Kailash Sharma; Rahul Singh; Priyanka Datta; and Nagendra Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is a railway level-crossing control system having a barrier movable across a roadway, approach and exit sensors disposed on respective sides of the crossing, an obstacle-detection unit observing a crossing zone, an actuator, a warning device, a rechargeable battery, and a controller. In response to the approach sensor, the controller initiates closing of the barrier. Detection of an obstacle in the crossing zone overrides ordinary closing by halting the actuator and activating the warning device. After the exit sensor indicates passage of the train and the obstacle-detection unit indicates that the crossing zone is clear, the controller reopens the barrier. The rechargeable battery supplies the sensing units, actuator, warning device, and controller to support continued crossing control.
