MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521086453 A) filed by Pandit Deendayal Energy University on September 11, 2025, for Nutrinano Therapy: A Green Nanotech-Based Strategy For Managing Anemia.
Inventors include Dr. Sachidanand Singh; Mr. Raviraj Bharatbhai Barot; Dr. Nisha Singh; Dr. Sivaraman Dhanasekaran; Dr. Pradeep Ps; and Dr. S. Sundar Manoharan.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The titled invention discloses a green nanotech-based strategy for managing anemia. Anemia, particularly forms arising from red blood cell (RBC) membrane instability, remains a significant clinical burden with limited targeted therapeutic options. This invention presents an integrative approach combining network pharmacoJogy and green-synthesized nanotechnology to address anemia at the molecular level. Selected medicinal plants (S-MPs) are used to identify bioactive compounds that interact with key cytoskeletal proteins—Spectrin, Ankyrin, and Band 3—critical for RBC membrane integrity. These compounds are employed in the eco-friendly synthesis of biocompatible nanoparticles and quantum dots (NPs/QDs), which serve as both therapeutic agents and targeted delivery systems. The invention includes in silico modeling, molecular dynamics, and experimental validation in in vitro and in vivo models to assess the therapeutic efficacy. By modulating membrane stability, oxidative stress, and inflammation, the NutriNano system offers a safe, sustainable, and mechanistically guided alternative to current anemia treatments, particularly for hereditary and structural forms of the disorder.
