MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611055815 A) filed by Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut on May 01, 2026, for Novel System And Method For Algae Based Biofuel Generation.
Inventors include Dr. Mukti Verma; Ayan; Muhammad Maaz; and Vanshika Aulakh.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an advanced and sustainable process for the production of biofuels utilizing algae as a renewable and environmentally friendly feedstock. More particularly, the invention discloses integrated methods and systems for the cultivation of microalgae and/or macroalgae in controlled environments, including photo bioreactors and open pond systems, wherein key growth parameters such as light intensity, temperature, pH, nutrient concentration, and carbon dioxide supply are precisely regulated to enhance biomass productivity and lipid accumulation. The extracted algal lipids are subsequently converted into biofuels, particularly biodiesel, through optimized transesterification processes. Additionally, the residual biomass is utilized for the production of other biofuels such as bioethanol, biogas, and bio hydrogen, thereby ensuring maximum resource utilization.
