MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621111436 A) filed by Sachinkumar Gunvantrai Modha; and Vidhi V. Bhopekar on September 16, 2026, for Novel Lophine Amides For Selective And Efficient Fluoride Ion Detection And Subsequent Moisture Detection.
Inventors include Sachinkumar Gunvantrai Modha; Vidhi V. Bhopekar; Shiv R. Desai; and Subhash B. Patel.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel lophine amide compounds VBLA-1 (Probe-1) and VBLA-2 (Probe-2) and their use as highly selective fluorescent and colorimetric chemosensors for fluoride ion detection. The probes exhibit distinct colour changes and significant red shifts in absorption and emission spectra upon interaction with fluoride ions, along with excellent selectivity over other common anions. The invention further provides multiple sensing platforms including solution, paper strips, TLC plates, and reusable silica-supported sensors. After fluoride activation, the silica-based sensors display reversible colour and fluorescence responses to moisture or water, enabling subsequent moisture detection. These dual-function sensing systems are useful for environmental monitoring, water quality assessment, food packaging, smart packaging, and humidity indication.
