Abstract: ABSTRACT Ii Orthodontic space closure commonly employs stainless steel (SS) arch wires. However, prolonged intraoral exposure results in surface degradation, increased frictional resistance, microbial adhesion, and corrosion, adversely affecting treatment efficiency and patient. This invention discloses a novel graphene oxide (GO)-coated stainless steel orthodontic arch wire produced by electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The GO coating forms a uniform, adherent layer on SS wires, imparting superior surface smoothness, reduced frictional resistance, enhanced corrosion resistance, significant antibacterial activity, and excellent biocompatibility. Surface characterization using SEM, ED AX, FTIR, and AFM confirms homogeneous deposition and functional group integrity. This invention represents a significant advancement in orthodontic material technology, improving biomechanical efficiency and clinical outcomes.
