Inventors include Dr. Priya P. Shetti; Dr. Vijay M. Kumbar; R. Suneel S. Dodamani; Dr. Shridhar Ghagane; Priya M. Patil; and Dr. Prashant Yuvaraj Mali.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel formulation of quercetin loaded liposomes for the treatment of breast cancer thereof. More particularly, the invention relates to the pre-formulation studies that includes, .physical_characteristics,_solubility,_melting_point determination,. compatibility_ analysis by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques. The invention also involves process of preparation of novel formulation of quercetin loaded liposomes. The invention also pertains evaluation and characterization of developed novel formulation of quercetin loaded liposomes by determining particle size and polydispersity index (PDI), percent entrapment efficiency (% EE), surface morphology of optimized formulation, in-vitro release of quercetin from liposomes and stability study. The invention also comprises the determination of statistical optimization, establishing design space, face-centered central composite design and selection of optimized novel formulation of quercetin loaded liposomes along with its analysis of zeta potential. The invention encompasses the pre-clinical experimental effects of optimized novel formulation of quercetin loaded liposomes against human breast adenocarcinoma cell line (MCF-7 cell line) by in-vitro cytotoxicity studies using MTT assay.
