MUMBAI, India, June 19 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421094436 A) filed by Sachinkumar Gunvantrai Modha; and Shiv R. Desai on December 01, 2024, for Novel Azo Dye Containing Paper-Based And Hydrogel-Based Ph Sensor.

Inventors include Sachinkumar Gunvantrai Modha; Shiv R. Desai; and Vidhi V. Bhopekar.

The application for the patent was published on June 05, 2026, under issue no. 23/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the Lophine incorporated novel azo dye LOREZO and its application as naked eye colorimetric ppm level pH sensors. The present invention discloses the preparation process of the novel probe LOREZO. In particular the probe gives a naked eye detectable colour change with variation in pH. The colour change behaviour of the said probe is supported by the UV-Vis spectra obtained in the study done for solvatochromic and halochromic properties of LOREZO. The novel compound LOREZO was allowed to absorb on the surface of paper and hydrogel which provides complimentary pH detection systems for aqueous samples.
