Abstract: The present invention relates to an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based drug discovery and repurposing system, referred to as NovaGen. The proposed system provides a unified intelligent platform that identifies existing, clinically evidenced medicines which may be repurposed for the treatment of a specified disease or medical condition, and additionally supports the identification of biological targets and molecular structure information relevant to the disease. The invention employs biomedical ontology resolution, structured biomedical data retrieval, target-association analysis, chemical structure retrieval, and an explainable AI-based confidence scoring and ranking engine to evaluate and present candidate drugs supported by real clinical trial and approval data. The system further incorporates an automation and orchestration layer that performs scheduled data refresh, report generation, and backup operations independent of direct user interaction, together with role-based access control, an analytics dashboard, and an audit/notification subsystem. By integrating disease identification, target association, molecular analysis, explainable AI-based ranking, automated reporting, and background orchestration into a single platform, NovaGen provides a scalable decision-support tool for accelerating the identification of drug repurposing candidates, with an architecture designed to extend to learned, data-driven scoring models as additional outcome data becomes available.
