Abstract: An electromechanical friction brake for actuating a friction pad against a rotor including a caliper body, a piston assembly, a lever, and an electric actuator. The piston assembly is slidably coupled with the caliper body for movement along a piston axis between an actuated position configured to engage the friction pad against the rotor and an unactuated position configured to release the friction pad from the rotor. The lever is operatively arranged between the caliper body and the piston assembly and is configured to move the piston assembly along the piston axis relative to the caliper body between the actuated position and the unactuated position. The electric actuator is operatively engaged with the lever and configured to move the lever. Operation of the electric actuator moves the lever to actuate the piston assembly between the actuated position and the unactuated position.
