MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621085301 A) filed by Dr. M. S. Hora; and Surendra Pratap Singh on July 12, 2026, for Nonlinear Analysis Of Rc Building With Horizontal Irregularity Coupled With Ssi Under High Intensity Seismic Excitation.
Inventors include Dr. M. S. Hora; and Surendra Pratap Singh.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a nonlinear seismic analysis system for evaluating the structural behaviour of horizontally irregular reinforced concrete buildings considering soil–structure interaction under high-intensity seismic excitation. The system comprises a Three-Dimensional Structural Modelling Module, a Soil–Structure Interaction Modelling Module, a Nonlinear Hinge Modelling Module, a Ground Motion Input Module, a Nonlinear Time-History Analysis Module, and a Seismic Performance Evaluation Module. The analytical framework models a G+8 reinforced concrete building having re-entrant corner irregularity and represents supporting clay soil using equivalent spring stiffness beneath isolated footings. Nonlinear beam and column hinges are assigned to simulate material yielding, stiffness degradation, and plastic deformation during earthquake loading. A recorded Chamoli (1999) earthquake acceleration history is applied to perform nonlinear time-history analysis. The system evaluates vibration period, storey displacement, storey drift, drift ratio, storey shear, base shear, overturning moment, and plastic hinge formation, thereby providing realistic seismic performance assessment through simultaneous consideration of soil flexibility, structural irregularity, and nonlinear material behaviour.
