MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641075640 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on June 18, 2026, for Non-Pyrotechnic Separation Assembly For Air Vehicles.

Inventors include Goutham R Krishna; Pranjal; and Ayub Ahmed Janvekar.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: A separation assembly (100) for an aerial vehicle may include, a coupler tube (102) having internally threaded engagement portions (104), the coupler tube (102) may be fixedly mounted on an inner wall of a lower body section of aerial vehicle; a set of threaded shafts (106) to be engaged correspondingly with internally threaded engagement portions (104), the threaded shafts (106) may be operatively coupled with a set of electromechanical actuation assemblies (108); and electromechanical actuation assemblies (108) fixedly mounted on an inner surface of an upper body section of e aerial vehicle to cause rotation of threaded shafts (106) in a disengagement direction such that rotation of threaded shafts (106) produces an axial displacement of the coupler tube (102) to progressively disengage and effect non- pyrotechnic separation of the lower body section from the upper body section, in response to a trigger signal from a control unit of aerial vehicle.
