MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202527093412 A) filed by Mediatek Inc. on September 29, 2025, for Non-Primary Channel Switching Schemes In Wireless Communications.

Inventors include Lu, Kai Ying; Liu, Jianhan; Yee, James Chih-Shi Number; Hsu, Chien-Fang; Fang, Yonggang; Sun, Li-Hsiang; and Bajko, Gabor.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: Techniques pertaining to non-primary channel switching schemes in wireless communications are described. An access point (AP) determines whether or not non-primary channel access (NPCA) corresponding to each overlapping basic service set (OBSS) is allowed. The AP then transmits a frame carrying an indication of a result of the determining. A station (STA) receives a frame carrying an indication of whether or not NPCA corresponding to each OBSS is allowed. The STA also determines whether to switch to an NPCA primary channel based at least in part on the indication. The STA then switches from a primary channel to the NPCA primary channel responsive to determining to switch to the NPCA primary channel.
