Abstract: The present invention discloses a bioderived non-isocyanate basedpolyhydroxyurethane membrane of Formula I and a method of preparation thereof. Polyol is originated from petrochemical and moisture-sensitive isocyanate and therefore the traditional approaches often lead to serious environmental and health concerns. The present invention details an integrated process for the preparation of the polyhydroxyurethane membrane via organocatalytic carbon dioxide fixation with bioderived epoxides of Formula III, the then formed bioderived cyclic carbonates of Formula II are treated with diamines under ambient reaction conditions/interfacial polymerization. The prepared polyhydroxy urethane membranes are dense, thermally stable and hydrophobic.
