Abstract: ABSTRACT NON-INVASIVE AI-DRIVEN VISUAL PERCEPTION SYSTEM USING NEURAL STIMULATION The invention relates to assistive technology and non-invasive neural interfaces. A visual perception assistance system comprises a visual input unit, a processing unit, a stimulation control unit, a non-invasive neural stimulation interface having individually addressable transcranial stimulation elements positionable over the occipital region, and a feedback subsystem. The processing unit extracts boundary, proximity and motion features from image and depth data, prioritises them by distance, time-to-contact and heading offset, and generates a simplified representation whose number of cells is determined by the number of reliably distinguishable phosphene loci recorded in a personalised phosphene map. Each cell is mapped to a stimulation channel at an intensity normalised to that channel-specific phosphene threshold, and feedback updates the map in closed loop. The advancement over known art lies in matching representation dimensionality and drive level to measured cortical response. Principal use: assistive navigation for visually impaired persons.
