MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641096165 A) filed by Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation on August 08, 2026, for Non-Ideal Behavior Of Amine Binary Mixtures: Steric And Intermolecular Interaction Effects.

Inventors include V. Sai Balaji; and Dr. Shaik Babu.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for characterizing intermolecular interactions and non-ideal thermodynamic behaviour of binary liquid mixtures comprising 3- (dimethylamino)propan-1-amine (DMAPA) and at least one positional isomer of dimethylaniline. The method comprises preparing binary liquid mixtures over a predetermined composition range, determining thermophysical properties including density, viscosity, and ultrasonic velocity at one or more predetermined temperatures, and calculating excess thermodynamic properties including excess molar volume, excess isentropic compressibility, viscosity deviation, and excess Gibbs free energy of activation of viscous flow. The calculated thermodynamic properties are correlated using one or more thermodynamic models to characterize intermolecular interactions, steric effects, molecular association, and non-ideal liquid-phase behaviour, thereby establishing structure–property relationships for binary amine liquid systems. The method is useful for solvent evaluation, molecular modelling, process design, reaction media optimization, specialty chemical development, and prediction of liquid-phase thermodynamic behaviour.
