Abstract: ABSTRACT [0011] A lighting-invariant vision system is disclosed that performs reliable object detection and tracking under challenging illumination by operating in the HSV color space. Video frames are converted from RGB to HSV so that hue and saturation components, which are largely independent of light intensity, can be emphasized while the value component is de-emphasized. After noise reduction and shadow handling, HSV-based segmentation isolates objects of interest. Machine- learning or deep-learning models then detect and track these objects across consecutive frames in real time. The resulting architecture maintains detection continuity under nighttime, shadow, fog, and sudden brightness variations, rendering it suitable for surveillance, traffic monitoring, public-safety applications, and edge-device deployment.
