Abstract: The Space debris has now emerged as a critical and very urgent global issue. The growth rate of commercial satellites, used rocket stages and decommissioned spacecrafts poses a potential disaster for Earth's orbit security. Traditional space debris tracking methods make use of outdated tracking facilities and do not have the necessary flexibility to track smaller or unpredictable debris independently and in real time. In order to address this problem and secure space for its sustainable exploitation, the Next Generation Space Debris Mitigation System for Sustainable Earth Orbit has been designed. This cutting-edge system incorporates the concepts of AI-enabled autonomous detection, risk assessment and mitigation. A combination of multiple layers of sensors such as ground radar, optical telescopes, LiDAR sensors and updated Two Line Elements will monitor orbital trajectories of the debris. Advanced machine learning classifiers will quickly analyze these data, classify the debris and calculate its trajectory and probability of collision with other assets. Ultimately, a decision-making tool powered by AI will determine the most efficient approach. An autonomous process will perform orbital avoidance maneuvers in order to avoid collisions while at the same time actively clearing space of debris.
