MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641045535 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on April 09, 2026, for Neuroquant Reflex Device -Integrated Digital Reflex Assessment Hammer With Emg -Assisted Reflex Grading.

Inventors include Dr. Meena S; Dr. Dhanusia S; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: Abstract The NeuroQuant Reflex Device is an integrated system designed to deliver an objective, quantitative, and reproducible assessment of deep tendon reflexes. In contrast to conventional examinations that rely heavily on subjective visual interpretation, the device combines high-precision mechanical sensing and wireless EMG monitoring to capture both the stimulus and neuromuscular response with clinical-level accuracy. The reflex hammer incorporates a piezoelectric force sensor, triaxial accelerometer, and angle sensor to characterize strike force, velocity, duration, and orientation, while synchronized EMG electrodes measure muscle latency and amplitude. A microcontroller fuses these data streams and computes a proprietary Reflex Index that establishes a direct correlation between mechanical impact and electrophysiological output. Processed data are transmitted via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to a companion application that provides waveform visualization, quantitative metrics, automated reporting, and secure data storage. Cloud-enabled functionality supports longitudinal monitoring, pre and post-intervention comparison, telemedicine workflows, and Al-assisted comparative analysis. By standardizing reflex quantification and minimizing examiner variability, the system enhances diagnostic precision, facilitates the early detection of neurological changes, and supports evidence-based rehabilitation and neurology practices .
