MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621113194 A) filed by Symbiosis International Deemed University on September 21, 2026, for Neuromorphic Edge Intelligence System For Ppg-Based Cardiovascular Risk Assessment.

Inventors include Ms. Saanvi Dande; and Mr. Sai Prashanth Mallellu.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT NEUROMORPHIC EDGE INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM FOR PPG-BASED CARDIOVASCULAR RISK ASSESSMENT The present invention discloses a neuromorphic edge intelligence system (100) for cardiovascular risk assessment using photoplethysmography signal analysis and spiking neural network inference on embedded hardware. The system comprises an edge acquisition module (110) with a microcontroller (112), PPG sensor (114), and infrared triggering module (116) for event-driven signal acquisition. A neuromorphic inference engine (120) performs signal preprocessing (122), rate-based spike encoding (124), and spiking neural network classification (126) using Leaky Integrate-and-Fire neuronal dynamics. A reward-modulated Hebbian learning module (128) enables adaptive synaptic weight optimization. A backend and visualization module (130) provides local database storage (134) and real-time dashboard visualization (136). The system operates through a local wireless communication link (140) without internet dependency, enabling privacy-preserving cardiovascular monitoring in off-grid environments. The system achieves binary risk classification with 92.25 percent accuracy. [
