The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The invention is a combined hardware and software system that provides a cost-effective solution for real-time acquisition, classification, and precise time-stamping of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals for epilepsy monitoring. In contrast to traditional automatic systems, which only detect the presence or absence of seizures, the present system identifies four different neurological states, namely pre-ictal, ictal, post-ictal and inter-ictal. The system is based on a hardware acquisition layer with Ag/AgCl electrodes connected to an analog front-end including an instrumentation amplifier (e.g. AD620/INA333) and analog filters (0.5–40 Hz bandpass and 50 Hz notch) to isolate relevant brainwave frequencies. Data is digitized by a 12 bit Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) and transmitted to an ESP32 microcontroller for real time streaming. The software architecture implements a processing pipeline, which consists of signal segmentation and feature extraction using time-frequency methods such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Wavelet transforms. Classification is performed with a hybrid ensemble modeling approach: Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Random Forest (RF) classifiers, specifically an 80/20 CNN-heavy ensemble to optimize detection accuracy and generalize across patient data. The system also has a visualization and alert layer that generates a real-time prediction timeline and dashboard, showing the exact time intervals of seizure phases. Automated alarms are generated via a buzzer, mobile app, or cloud-based notification system to aid in immediate clinical intervention and long-term continuous monitoring. This holistic solution allows for improved clinical decision-making by providing detailed views on the temporal development of epileptic events.
