Abstract: ABSTRACT NEURAL NETWORK ACCELERATOR A neural network accelerator including a heterogeneous processing array and a workload allocation unit. The heterogeneous processing array 5 including a first plurality of processing units to execute computational operations using operand data in a first precision format and a second plurality of processing units to execute computational operations using the operand data in a second precision format. The second precision format has a higher bit-width than the first precision format. The workload allocation unit 10 operably coupled to the heterogenous processing array to receive a compute instruction including a precision indicator. Each compute instruction carries an equal number of filters of each precision format. The workload allocation unit is to route each filter to a processing unit of the matching fixed bit-width based on the precision indicator. The 15 correspondence between each filter and the matching fixed-width processing unit is guaranteed by construction of the compute instruction. The workload allocation unit is to steer each filter of the first precision format to a processing unit of the first plurality of processing units and each filter of the second precision format to a processing unit of the second plurality of 20 processing units. The first plurality of processing units and the second plurality of processing units operate simultaneously in parallel. Fig. 2 36
